Safety & Standards

At Grenville House OEC the utmost effort is made to achieve the highest standards in every aspect of the operation. This is reflected in the licences, awards and recognition by National Governing Bodies of Outdoor Activities provided by the Centre.

As a provider of Outdoor Adventurous activities for young people the Centre has held and maintained an AALA licence since the introduction of scheme in 1996. Inspections take place on annual basis ensuring that good safety management practice is being followed.

The Centre provides both Sailing and Powerboating experiences as well as RYA certified courses. In order to ensure compliance with the national standards set by the RYA the Centre is inspected each year with respect to  the suitability of equipment, facilities and the standard of coaching.

In order to attain recognition by the BCU as a Centre offering Canoe and Kayak activities as well as BCU courses, an inspection is carried out once a year. The purpose of which is to observe the provision of safe, fun and informative paddle-sports activities by coaches operating at the standards set by the national governing body.

Coasteering is provided by Grenville House OEC and operates to   the standards laid out in the National Coasteering Charter.

Our highly regarded catering provision has been inspected by Torbay Council EHO in compliance with ‘The National Food Hygiene Rating System’ and awarded the highest rating of ‘5’.
